Thunder Hill Ranch, Willows
Angus cattle and pheasants live in harmony at Thunder Hill Angus Ranch, which is owned by Thor and Melissa Oden.

Thor and Melissa Oden founded the Thunder Hill Ranch Angus herd in 1988. The herd includes 80 head of registered Angus cows that run on 1,200 acres of northern California land. They manage their herd and make genetic selections with the commercial producer in mind, focusing on calving ease, performance and carcass traits. Producing registered Angus cattle that are steeped in performance and managed like their commercial counterparts assures Thunder Hill customers of a final product that works in their respective environments.
The Odens established a pheasant club and sporting clay business on the ranch to supplement their Angus cattle operation. Hunters and gamesmen shoot 10,000 pheasants and approximately 500,000 clays each year on the ranch. The cattle enhance and maintain cover for the pheasants, allowing the two enterprises to live in harmony on the ranch. The Odens are preparing to host the California state clay shooting competition in 2003.
