Ellingson Angus Ranch, St. Anthony
Chad Ellingson welcomed guests and introduced the ranch staff and all members of his family. His wife, Julie, their sons Stetson and Jameson, and their daughter, Sierra, play an important role in the ranch that was founded in 1995 – when Chad and Julie were married. Both have deep roots in Angus.

Ellingson Angus Ranch had several pens of cattle on display at the 2003 National Angus Tour.

Ellingson Angus Ranch was established in 1995, when Chad Ellingson and Julie Schaff were married, but the couple had been involved in the Angus business long before then. Both of their grandfathers started raising Angus cattle in the 1950s, and their families passed that heritage and love for the business on to them.

The Ellingsons run a small herd of Angus cows and strive to provide top-quality, proven Angus genetics to commercial producers and functional, show-quality projects to local juniors. The cow herd base includes females sired by leading bulls with balanced performance traits. Artificial insemination is used extensively, choosing sires that excel in economically important traits. Yearling bulls and females are marketed mostly by private treaty and through association-sponsored consignment sales.

The Ellingsons are also active in state and national Angus and beef industry organizations, have held several offices, and have served on various committees. In addition to their Angus operation, Chad serves as the beef sire procurement manager for Genex, and Julie is the communications director for the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association. They have three children — Stetson, Jameson and Sierra.
